The Championships events are being held across northern Tasmania. The Sprint Distance west of Launceston. The Middle Distance and Long Distance in the Fingal Valley. The Relay in the Northern Midlands near the historic village of Ross.

For all Championships events, course lengths are indicative and may be subject to minor changes.
All individual races will be World Ranking Events (WRE) for M/W21E competitions. M/W20E competitors will also be eligible for WRE points in the Sprint Distance and Middle Distance. All WRE entries and payments should be made online via Orienteering Australia’s online entry system, Eventor.
To enter, you need to be registered with Australian Eventor, inclusive of your competitor IOF ID number, and have a login and password. The WRE entry deadline is Sunday 8 March 2026, 11:59 pm, Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT)
The Australian Championships competitions are being run in accordance with the Orienteering Australia Competition Rules for orienteering. All participants must comply with the rules. The relevant IOF Orienteering Competition Rules will also apply for WREs and will take precedence over the OA rules for elite competitors.
SportIdent Air (SIAC) will be used for all races. Older model SportIdent cards with physical punching will work too.

The popular Hobart Shorts makes a return with three events across Thursday April 9 and Friday April 10. The series makes use of three varied bush maps close to Hobart not previously used in other editions of the Hobart Shorts. The courses are NOT sprints. Their length is akin to Middle Distance events.

On Saturday morning the Tasmanian Sprint Championships will be held on a new map of a complex school campus in Sorell, 25 mins drive north-east of Hobart.
Location: Sorell (near Hobart)
Start Times: 10am at Sorell.
On Sunday, challenge yourself with the intense navigation challenge of the famous Pittwater Dunes, near Hobart airport.
For those who have not been to Pittwater Dunes previously, it is an extreme test of your navigation skills. The courses are on sand dune terrain with a mix of mature pine forest and open marram grass areas.
The map has recently been updated by the original mapper, Mike Dowling.
